Every decision we make is preceded by some sort of thought process called an intention. The way we handle a problem has a significant impact on how things turn out.

The strength of intention is that it enters a situation before we do. This is something we’ve all seen and felt in other people’s encounters with us. To avoid being attacked, someone must approach us with malice aforethought (MAO).

3 TYPES OF INTENT – KNOW HOW TO MOVE YOUR POWER OF INTENTION INTO MANIFESTATION!

There are three distinct types of intentions. If you are in a disagreement, you have a few options for setting your purpose.

Purpose: To instill a sense of shame or guilt in the minds of the youngsters. It conveys the message, “Do not feel what you are experiencing. Feel what I’m telling you to feel.” Unfortunately, this is counterproductive because it is children’s sentiments that will spur them on to make a behavioural adjustment or try something new. Children, on the other hand, place blame, defend, deny, and deflect.

Having an intent to save – Intent of Permission: Saving children from their sensations is the aim, not rescuing them from their misery (e.g. dropping off the homework that your child forgot). It conveys the notion that “Feelings are evil” or that “You are unable to handle your feelings”. They are deadly and have the potential to overpower you.” “Don’t feel your sentiments,” is the message conveyed when someone intends to preserve their life. Permissiveness promotes entitlement and manipulation rather than personal responsibility.

Intent to Teach: The objective is to assist youngsters to reflect on their feelings about the consequences and the influence of their decisions. It reads, “Feel your feelings.” Allow your emotions to lead the way. If you think you can manage anything, then you can.” This encourages youngsters to take ownership of their activities and gives them the drive to try out new, more effective techniques in the future.

There are several types of intent, and each one has a different effect. Punitive aim frequently results in bitterness, a sense of alienation, and plans for vengeance. Mistakes might be seen by children as personal failures that reveal underlying character defects.

Children who are treated with permissiveness are less likely to experience conflict and are more likely to trust their parents. Children who don’t experience repercussions for their actions while they’re young are more likely to engage in risky conduct later in life when the stakes are higher.

Conflicts may be used to teach children since children learn from their errors. They connect with their inner guiding system (feelings), accept responsibility for their actions, and are open to personal growth (intrinsic motivation).

GETTING CLEAR WITH YOUR INTENTION & SETTING THEM UP!

We would like to think that we are constantly looking for a solution and trying to be of assistance. The Power of Attention may be used to double-check our assumptions.

Ask yourself where your attention is before speaking to the youngster. If your emphasis is on what you don’t want, what went wrong, or what habits you wish to cease, your intention is likely to be negative, resulting in an attempt to punish or save. Yes, that’s OK! You can make a change if you are aware of this information. This would help you know how to move your power of intention into manifestation!

If you put your focus on what you do desire, it means you’re trying to share or solve an issue for someone else. The intention is steered by attention. INTENTIONAL INFLUENCE + STRENGTH OF WILL

It’s easy to treat intent as some kind of magic wand or a handy excuse when we don’t apply it properly. If we injure someone else (deliberately or inadvertently), we can remark, “That wasn’t my goal.” We don’t want to injure others; therefore, they have no need to feel wounded because of it.

When we accept responsibility for our actions as well as our intentions, we enhance our communication. As in, “I had no idea that was so upsetting. I had no intention of ______, but I can see the harm it has caused.” Make apologies or outline specific plans for future more helpful communication as a follow-up. If your intentions were good but your conversation went bad, reflect on what happened. Was the message I conveyed useful or harmful?

In what ways is the final result different from my expectations?

What role do I have to play? What adjustments can I make to better match my intentions with their results? If this happens again, what will be different about my approach and how I communicate information going forward?

It’s impossible for any of us to do it perfectly all the time. That isn’t the intention. The objective is to be aware of our thoughts, feelings, and actions, and to be open to reflecting on the results of those reflections.

Many educators and parents embark on the road of Conscious Discipline with the goal of getting their children to behave. In the future, you’ll shift your focus from “forcing children to behave” to “assisting youngsters in achieving success. “This seemingly insignificant change has significant ramifications for your relationships with children, including your capacity to enable effective punishments. Children become more cooperative, attentive, and open to learning when they sense your intention’s energy.

Without the use of threats and demands, we will never be able to teach others accountability. The safety and connection children require to think on their influence on the world and listen to the signals their feelings offer fosters personal responsibility.
